Europe’s largest travelling funfair has returned to the North East for the first time in three years.
The Hoppings opened in at the Town Moor in Newcastle on Friday and offers a range of attractions for all ages, from family-friendly rides to white knuckle experiences for thrill seekers.
This year is the first time that the Hoppings has been run by Crow Events, one of the UK’s biggest fairground operators, which has been organising events since 1865.
Ryan Crow, director of Crow Events, said: “We have had a good response. It has been the busiest I have seen it in many years.
“All of the major rides in the country that travel are here. There is a great atmosphere and that is something people have been missing for quite a while now.
“In terms of fun fairs around the country, it is probably the biggest fun fair that is central to a city.
“It has been going 140 years now and there are a lot of memories here.”
The new food area will compliment the more traditional fun fair favourites including candy floss and burgers, ensuring that visitors will not miss out on their much-loved treats.
Feast Street includes a licensed bar, which has a Challenge 25 policy and photo ID may be required, with drinks only available for those who are eating.
The Hoppings runs until next Saturday and is open from 12noon to 10pm.
