Although many were predicted scorching temperatures today, some have been left disappointed due to cloudy and breezy conditions – but what will the weather be like this weekend, could we be in for more sun?

Today temperatures reached a high of 24c in Darlington, with more southern areas, such as Northallerton, seeing even higher temps at 25c.

However, as the day progressed, cloud has encroached on much of the North East bringing with it breezes and colder temperatures.

What will the weather be like tonight?

Tonight will begin to be a wet one as bands of rain move across the North East, however, luckily this won’t last.

The Northern Echo:

Rain should clear for more southern areas of the region with skies largely becoming clear overnight.

The blustery winds that many are experiencing are also set to ease throughout the evening and a minimum temperature of 6c has been predicted for tonight.

What’s the weather like on Saturday

Saturday is expected to see bright spells with some hazy sunshine, but largely dry.

There may be the odd shower developing over the Pennines during the afternoon, however.

The Northern Echo:

Things will sadly feel much cooler, with temperatures returning to near normal and a maximum temperature of 18c predicted for many.

What will the weather be like on Sunday?

According to The Met Office Sunday will see variable cloud with sunny spells and a risk of showers at times.

In Darlington a maximum temperature of 16c has been predicted with mostly cloudy conditions throughout the day.
