AS crowds descend on Teesside Airport for the airshow, many are annoyed about the traffic jams.

With 22,000 tickets sold, plenty of would-be spectators have had to get out of their cars and take pictures of The Red Arrows from their cars.

As The Northern Echo is at the airshow today, we spoke to people who have had dreadful experiences getting here.

One family had travelled from Hartlepool and set off at 10:30am and arrived at the airport at 12:30, driving just 28 miles.

Another family travelled from Guisborough and it took them 2.5 hours to travel just 21 miles.

Chris Elliott, from Darlington, has been stuck in this traffic jam after leaving Darlington at 10:20am.

One lady travelled from Yarm and described her journey as "an absolute nightmare." She added: "At least I'm here now though, other people are still queueing."

One Sunderland man has been stuck in traffic since 9:20am and arrived at their airshow at 2pm.

One person commented on our blog: "Left home at 11 as live only 20 minutes away! Its now nearly 1 oclock and still in traffic not worth going now really!"
