AUDIENCE members at a local theatre group’s latest production can expect a few “blonde” moments later this week.

Dryburn Theatrical Workshop (DTW) is finally bringing Legally Blonde, The Musical to the stage in Chester-le-Street, two years later than planned.

The smash hit Broadway and West End musical is based on the 2001 cult US comedy film.

It follows beautiful and popular sorority student Elle Woods’ unlikely revenge mission after being dumped by her aspirational boyfriend, Warner Huntington III, in favour of a more ‘serious’ girlfriend.

Elle, played by Emma Coulson, loves to be pampered and is passionate about pink.

After the break-up, she puts down the credit cards and picks up the books to study law.

She manages to land a place at the prestigious Harvard Law School in a bid to win back the affections of Warner, played by Adam Donald.

With the backing of new-found friends, she learns it is possible to be both smart and fashionable.

DTW chairman, Lee Passmoor, said: “We originally started rehearsals for ‘Legally Blonde’ back in January 2020, but had to put everything on hold.

“So, we’re over the moon to be able to finally bring this to the stage.

“It is an all-singing, all-dancing romantic comedy which will absolutely lift the spirits.”
