PASSENGERS flying from Teesside Airport this Saturday (June 11) are being warned to account for extra traffic due to the airshow.

The gates open for the show at 10am, with flight displays scheduled to start at about noon.

And with thousands expected to attend the sell-out event, normal flight passengers are being advised to set off in good time and arrive at the airport at least three hours before their departure time.

An airport spokesman said: "We expect some traffic delays due to Teesside Airshow.

"It is recommended that you arrive at least three hours before your flight."

The airport is accessed via the A67 between Darlington and Yarm.

Clearway cones were placed along the route last week to ensure that motorists wanting a free view of the flypasts don't clog up the road with parked cars.

Motorists have been warned that any cars left in the clearway area around the airport will be towed away.

Tickets to the show are now sold out and none will be available on the day.
