A POPULAR juice bar in a North East town has been slapped with a one-star food hygiene rating.
Middlesbrough Council inspected Zenerjii, in the Cleveland Centre, on April 13 and ordered it to make some major improvements around food safety. However, it’s not the first time the juice bar has received such a low rating.
At its inspection in December 2019, it was also given just one star. Council officers will expect to see better systems and checks in place to ensure food is safe to eat.
Improvements are also necessary regarding hygienic food handling and the cleanliness of the site. The council’s food safety officer will have made a series of recommendations to Zenerjii so that it can increase its score.

The Middlesbrough juice bar can request for council officers to come out and rate the business again between three and six months from the date of the initial inspection. The first one is free but any further referrals will cost £150 per inspection.
At the time of writing, there are 15 businesses with one-star ratings and seven with 0-star ratings.
Zenerjii has been contacted for comment.
