DETAILS of Darlington’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations have been revealed, promising fun for all the family.

Events will be held in the town’s Market Square from Thursday, June 2, to Saturday, June 4.

There will an arts and crafts marquee offering workshops for all ages, live music on the stage and a big screen showing the action live from Buckingham Palace as well as a showing of family favourite Mary Poppins.

At 9pm the Jubilee beacon ceremony will begin, and it will be lit alongside beacons across the country at 9.45pm followed by a small firework display.

Jonathan Dulston, leader of the council, said: “We have three days of great entertainment planned to mark the Platinum Jubilee.

“I hope everyone will come down and enjoy the live acts, arts and crafts and broadcasts from London as we mark this historic occasion.

“I know lots of people have street parties and community events planned for the Sunday so fingers crossed the sun shines and we all have a great time.”
