HUNDREDS of homes across the North East remain without power after failures across the network this morning.

Homes in County Durham, Tyne & Wear and Northumberland woke up to no electricity as the Northern Powergrid confirmed problems.

At one point, at least 5,000 homes in County Durham were without power however, this was restored earlier today.

However, hundreds of homes are without electricity - and Northern Powergrid has released the estimated times of restoration.

We've put together a brief list of postcodes where "unplanned" power failures have occurred, leaving residents cut off.

Earlier today, postcodes in Newton Aycliffe and Bishop Auckland were among those suffering problems.

Heighington Primary School said power was off for around an hour before children arrived but was restored at around 8.50am this morning. 

Northern Powergrid have been approached for comment.
