EXCITEMENT is building ahead of a major new entertainment festival in the region featuring some of the biggest names in music.

The Rock n Roll Circus arrives in Newcastle on June 9 with a headline set from former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher supported by The Charlatans.

Indie rockers The Libertines are playing on Saturday June 11, with support from DMA’s before Years and Years with Olly Alexander take to the stage on the Sunday.

Opening the event will be the North East's own ZELA, a hotly-tipped alt-electronic pop duo from Durham, and organisers recently announced The Reytons from Doncaster will be playing on the Saturday.

The bands will be joined by a troupe of professional circus performers under a huge big top on the Town Moor. 

A spokesperson for the Rock n Roll Circus said the event was ‘bringing world-class music and awe-inspiring circus performances to Newcastle for a uniquely immersive live experience.’

He added: “Audiences can expect to see aerial artists, stilt walkers, acrobats and much more across the event site.”
