A DARLINGTON man who resisted a police officer and damaged a custody cell has been sentenced in court.

Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court heard on Monday (May 23) that Jonathan Johnson resisted a constable in the execution of his duty in Darlington on November 6, 2021.

On the same day in Darlington he also damaged the window of a police custody cell.

Johnson, of North Eastern Terrace, pleaded guilty to both offences.

The 48-year-old was given a six-month conditional discharge for each charge and  ordered to pay £50 compensation for the damage to the window.
