A FURTHER 125 homes could be built as a housing developer hopes to enter the next phase of its “garden village” plans.

The proposal for the homes on Mount Pleasant Farm, as well as residential and link roads, has been submitted to Darlington Borough Council to form part of the existing Westpark Garden Village.

Applicant Bussey & Armstrong Projects Limited, descrobed as a "primary developer" of houses in the area, is behind the plans.

Westpark Garden Village is located to the north-west of the centre of Darlington, and is predominantly residential, but also includes commercial businesses, three supermarkets (including Aldi, M&S food and the Co-op) a primary school, a pharmacy, a public house, Westpark Hospital and the Westpark nature reserve.

Access to the site will be via the internal routes within the existing Westpark Garden Village residential area. The residential area to the south is to be accessed from Edward Pease Way.

A total of 1,000 leaflets were distributed to residents who live in close proximity to the proposed site as part of the consultation process. A total of 13 responses were received.

The garden village has gradually expanded over the past few years, with plans for 173 homes submitted in February last year.

The application is due to be considered by the council later this year.
