CLEVELAND Police is appealing for witnesses and CCTV or dash cam footage after a man was assaulted in the street, leaving him with a head injury.

The incident happened around 1am on Tuesday, April 19 on Rutland Court, Middlesbrough.

A 33-year-old man was attacked following a verbal altercation. It is believed he was hit with an unknown object, causing him to fall to the ground and leaving him with a head injury.

The man was taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment before being released.

The suspect is described as a white male, around 6ft tall, of medium build with black hair, stubble and wearing a blue coat and carrying a backpack.

Anyone witnesses, anyone with information or anyone who may have CCTV or dash cam footage is asked to contact DC Itsharm Ramzan from Middlesbrough CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident number 064693.
