DARLINGTON Hippodrome will use bucket collections after shows to raise funds for Darlington Assistance for Refugees to support the humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

Theatres across the UK have been showing their support for the people of Ukraine in many ways, including Darlington Hippodrome.

The façade of Darlington Hippodrome has been lit up yellow and blue for several weeks and the venue has adopted Darlington Assistance for Refugees as one of their Charities of the Year.

Staff at the venue will now be holding bucket collections to raise funds to support people still in Ukraine and those who have fled the conflict.

The collections will take place after shows this week including The Good Old Days of Variety, The Magic of The Beatles and The Elvis Years.

Heather Tarran-Jones, Programming and Development Director at the Hippodrome said “At Darlington Hippodrome we have looked on with shock at recent events and our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine.

"We believe it is our duty to do something and we are sure our audiences will feel the same and will help us raise much needed funds to support the plight of refugees”.
