A spokesperson for Darlington Conservatives said: "Next year Darlington will face the biggest election in our town for a generation.

"In 2023 Darlington will face a choice between a Conservative led Council delivering for our town, and securing a brighter future or a return to Labour dominance and back to the future with Stephen Harker.

"Darlington Conservatives want to ensure that voters have the best possible choice when they go to the ballot box next May, and that is why we are delighted to today announce we have completed the process of selecting our initial candidates for across Darlington.

"We are extremely excited about the brilliant selection of new candidates who will be joining our committed team of Councillors as we gear up for next year and they will be working hard over the coming months to listen to residents’ concerns and share our exciting vision for Darlington’s future."

The local elections will take place in Darlington in May 2023.
