RABY Castle’s new adventure playground The Plotters’ Forest is set to give families across the county a much-needed Easter boost after opening to the public today (April 15).

Boasting interactive designs, towering slides, climbing walls, balance beams and climbing netting – the much-anticipated playground, which rises out of Raby Castle’s Christmas tree planation, it’s sure to be a firm favourite of children in the future.

Spanning several hundred metres, the Plotters’ Forest features numerous familiar nods towards Raby Castle, including the design, with some of the playground taking inspiration from some of Raby Castle’s architectural history, including the famous Nevill Gateway.

Now that it’s opened, those wanting to visit can book tickets for future days – while enjoying other parts of Raby Castle at the same time and seeing new facilities, such as the brand-new car park.

After getting through the main gateway of the playground, visitors can enjoy an overload for the senses – a youngster’s paradise which features climbing walls, a tunnel and netting to scale the three-floor centrepiece tower to get to the slide.

All the new features will also be joined by the new catering kiosk, The Plotters’ Pantry, which serves takeaway hot and cold drinks, freshly made sandwiches, snacks, cake and ice cream and conveniently overlooks the toddlers’ play area, which includes mini turrets, climbing equipment and chalkboards.

The Plotters’ Pantry will also offer ‘stargazing’ opportunities in the future, which Raby Estate will update on soon enough.
