A LARGE police cordon is in place as crime scene officers search a Darlington park on the outskirts the town centre today (Saturday, April 9).

Officers are currently at the scene of Stanhope Park in the West End this afternoon and police tape is blocking public access to a large section of the park off Vane Terrace.

There are two crime scene investigation vans at the scene and officers are searching the undergrowth and bins in the park.

Passersby also described seeing a large police presence at the site this morning.
