A MAN and his nine friends are set to take on a popular challenge to raise awareness for neuroblastoma after his daughter died from the disease last year.

Danny Hill, and nine other friends will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to raise awareness for Neuroblastoma, a cancer which affects around 100 children each year.

The group are hoping to complete the challenge - a 24 mile route, including 1585 metres of ascent – in under 12 hours.

Mr Hill’s daughter Amelia was diagnosed with the rare type of cancer in 2020 when they found an 11cm tumour on her left kidney.

Sadly the cancer had spread to her bone marrow and she was forced to undertake severe and harsh chemotherapy.

Amelia lost her battle at the age of eight in January 2021 when she died of heart failure.

Now Mr Hill is doing everything he can to raise money and awareness for the cancer.

Last year he raised £6,000 with the help of five of his friends when he completed a charity run and he’s hoping to beat that target with this year’s challenge.

Mr Hill said he thinks the challenge will be “a bit of push” but he thinks they’re “going to do alright.”

He said: “We’ve done our research into it and all that so we think it is doable, there’s about ten of us all together.”

The GoFundMe has raised £370 so far, however, Mr Hill said this has been a bit “off putting” after they raised so much last year.

However, this year Mr Hill has the help of his mam who recently became an ambassador for the charity.

He added: “My mam has just recently become an ambassador for the charity, so she is doing her own charity work herself, so she’s been doing a charity bingo night and coffee morning.

“She’s also been helping me with organise things for the walk.”

He concluded: “I would love to beat the target, although also I’ll be happy for any donation that I get because anything is good towards it, I would love to beat last years one though, that would be amazing.”
