A DEER was killed following a collision on a motorway in County Durham.
The incident happened on the A1(M) just before 7am on Wednesday (April 6).

Officers from Durham’s Road Policing Unit (RPU) reported attending a collision just to the south of junction 62, at Carrville.

Traffic had to be stopped briefly as firearms officers had to attend to dispatch the animal.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: “The deer had to be dispatched at the roadside by firearms hence traffic was stopped as a precaution.
“The road was reopened again by 7.20am.”
