THE retailing giant Amazon has officially started its recruitment drive for workers at its fourth warehouse in the North East.

More than 1,300 jobs are set to be created once Amazon's new Fulfilment Centre in Wynyard, near Stockton opens later this year.

The Northern Echo first revealed the retailer would be opening the site towards the end of last year as bosses said they are "excited" about their latest project.

A spokesperson for Amazon previously told The Echo: “We are excited about our latest project in Teesside.

"We are in the very early stages of our development and look forward to sharing more information as the project progresses.”

In recent months, contractors have been on the site near the A19 as the site was recently pictured with its cladding installed.

So far, no official opening date has been set but it is expected to open to workers later this year.

But the first of the new jobs, which include roles in management, HR, loss prevention, engineering and finance, went live this week.

These are the jobs up for grabs so far...

HR Manager

A description reads: "We’re seeking an experienced, Human Resources Manager to join the team in our latest Fulfilment Centre in the UK.

"Our Fulfilment Centres sit at the heart of Amazon’s world-class and rapidly growing Operations network: they’re where we manage our fast-moving inventory.

"They’re also where we developed our industry-leading workflows. Our Fulfilment Centre teams stow deliveries, pick products, package them up and ship them out: each of these groups have played their part in taking us to where we are today."

HR Partner 

The HR Partner will be the front line HR representative to the Team Lead and Area Manager client group in the Amazon Fulfillment Center.

The description reads: "As an integral part of the HR team, you will help drive a positive Associate experience through facilitating engagement activities and managing complex Associate queries.

"You will address low-risk employee cases (including conflict resolutions) and support investigations for employee relations issues.

"In addition, you will partner with operations and HR teams to execute standard company-wide programs actively seeking opportunities to invent and simplify."

Loss Prevention Manager

The role is described as being a member of the senior management team, where you’ll supervise, coordinate and implement all aspects of our loss prevention strategy.

A description reads: "Therefore, you’ll understand the critical importance you will play in your Fulfillment Center’s Loss Prevention Programme."

Loss Prevention Specialist

Amazon says that its Loss Prevention team delivers tangible benefits, by providing security services and asset protection.

Whoever gets the role will manage, coordinate and implement all aspects Amazon's loss prevention strategy.

IT Support Engineer

The description reads: "The successful candidate will ‘know how things work’ in their areas of responsibility and keep changes under control.

"You will build and operate infrastructure environments and will provide critical input to ensure that the platform is designed with operability in mind. You will make sure that all work around infrastructure moves forward successfully."

Senior Finance Business Partner

Those successful will "understand numbers and budgets" as part of the big vision and drive of an ambitious team.

The description reads: "You’ll make huge impact, not just on the bottom line performance of your Fulfilment Centre, but on the overall customer experience."

The retailer does not yet look like it has begun recruitment for fulfillment associates, who normally pick and pack the items for shipment.

Those roles normally make up the bulk of the workforce, operating both day and night shifts.
