NEWCASTLE Airport has revealed the list of 18 new destinations that passengers will be able to jet off to this summer and the dates that people will be able to book on flights.

Having endured two years of the pandemic, which banned most European and international travel, many will be looking to escape to beach holidays, city breaks and dream trips in 2022.

Now that numerous travel restrictions have eased, Newcastle Airport have wasted no time in announcing a list of 18 new destinations and flights they’ve introduced.

This news from the North East terminal comes after an £150m investment at the airport, which saw a new base open and 60 employment opportunities created.

Here’s a list of all the destinations that Newcastle Airport will now be offering in 2022 and the dates that flights will start departing to the locations:

  • Chania – from March 28 (Ryanair)
  • Fuerteventura – from March 29 (Ryanair)
  • Gran Canaria - from March 27 (Ryanair)
  • Ibiza – from March 28 (Ryanair)
  • Krakow – from March 27- (Ryanair)
  • Menorca – from March 29 (Ryanair)
  • Milan – from March 30 (Ryanair)
  • Paphos – from March 27 (Ryanair)
  • Riga – from March 28 (Ryanair)
  • Zadar – from March 27 (Ryanair)
  • Dublin – from April 15 (Aer Lingus)
  • Montego Bay (Jamaica)  – from April 5 (TUI)
  • Stavanger (Norway) – from May 16 (Loganair)
  • Bergen (Norway) – from May 21 (Loganair)
  • Palma – from May 2 (Easyjet)
  • Antalya (Turkey) – from April 2 (Corendon Airways)
  • Dalaman (Turkey) –from April 2 (Corendon Airways)

The 18 new routes will be a North East first, with airport bosses confident that footfall at the terminals will rise.

Newcastle International Airport’s chief executive, Nick Jones, added: “Today sees a significant investment and commitment from Ryanair at Newcastle International Airport which will also benefit the wider North East, creating hundreds of new jobs and providing an even bigger choice of destinations.

"From today, Ryanair will operate a total of 19 routes from our airport, including the brand-new destinations of Zadar in Croatia, Chania in Crete, Milan in Italy and Riga in Latvia. We look forward to welcoming even more Ryanair passengers through our doors this summer.”

To allow customers and visitors to/from Newcastle to book their summer getaway, the flight operator is launching a seat sale with fares available from £19.99 for travel from March to October, which must be booked by today (March 31).

Ryanair’s director of marketing, Dara Brady said: “Ryanair is thrilled to announce its largest Newcastle schedule that offers 130 weekly flights across 19 routes, including ten new routes to fantastic destinations such as Chania, Milan, and Zadar. 

“The opening of this base and introduction of these new routes from Newcastle reinforces our commitment to increasing connectivity, travel options and inbound tourism to the area as Ryanair will now offer 40% more capacity than it did pre-pandemic.

“We are delighted to open this new base and strengthen our relationship with Newcastle Airport, which will now host a fleet of two Ryanair aircraft.”
