AS THE Met Office issues a yellow warning for ice tonight and snow begins to fall across the region, we look at all the routes in Darlington and Durham set to be gritted.

According to Durham County Council, their map displays the county-wide road network and confirms which priority one routes are to be treated.

Roads to be gritted are displayed in purple, whereas roads that have been treated are displayed as Green, if there are no roads displayed in colour then no gritting is planned to take place.

For Darlington Borough Council, gritting takes place on a priority one and priority two basis.

The pre-treatment network mainly cover the main routes into and through the town and also includes all scheduled bus routes.

Darlington Borough Council says this gives quite a large coverage of the total network and provides “a treated route within a reasonable distance of residential areas.”
