AN appeal has been made to trace the person who returned a mobile phone to its owner.

Police would like to speak a man who they say, “kindly returned” the phone to the home address of its owner, Barry Hopkins, in Shotton Colliery, County Durham, after finding it in nearby Peterlee.

The finder was said to be driving a red Audi car and was wearing a red top and black bottoms, trainers and a cap when he returned the phone at around 3.45pm, on Friday.

But that person left no details and officers are keen to ask him some specific questions which could help locate Mr Hopkins.

The finder who returned the phone is asked to call Durham Police on 101, via extension 732635.
