PARTS of Manchester Airport were evacuated this afternoon after a fire was reported at the terminal.

Firefighters have been pictured at Terminal 1 departures as people took to social media to ask what was wrong.

A fire engine was also photographed outside the building as desperate fliers demanded updates.

A spokesperson for the airport said: "The T1 departure lounge was briefly evacuated due to a fire alarm at one of the food outlets.

"Around 200 passengers had to be re-screened and flights were held for them. The incident was stood down at around 6.15pm."
