A MAN has been arrested in connection with a two-vehicle crash in Darlington.

Police were called to St Augustine’s Way, in Darlington, at around 10.30pm on Sunday.

Paramedics also attended the scene and attended to people involved in the collision, which involved a black Volkswagen Golf and silver Seat Leon.

The North East Ambulance Service confirmed four people were taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital. 

A man is believed to have fled the scene but was later found by police officers.

He remains in police custody.

A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said: “Police were called just before 10.30pm yesterday to a two-vehicle collision on St Augustine’s Way, in Darlington.

“Paramedics also attended the scene of the collision, which involved a black Volkswagen Golf and a silver Seat Leon.

“A man is said to have fled the scene but was located a short time later by officers.

“He has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.”
