POLICE this afternoon urged drivers to be cautious after a further two lorries overturned on the A1M.
At 2.25pm the trailer of an articulated lorry overturned at the Burtree interchange junction near Darlington - blocking the inside lane on the southbound carriageway. No-one was hurt.
At 3.20pm a lorry overturned down an embankment on the southbound A1M carriageway between the Bradbury and Bowburn interchanges near Sedgefield.
Police said winds are picking up speed and will be around for some time, therefore drivers are being urged to take extreme caution and stick to the 50mph speed limit now in force on the roads.
A police spokesman said: "Other accidents on the A1 in North Yorkshire are causing tailbacks and this will effect all traffic on the A1M in County Durham.
"Drivers would be advised to take alternative routes."
