A SUPERMARKET burglary on Banksfield Road in Middlesbrough has led to arrests and Cleveland Police have launched an appeal.

Just after 11pm last night (Thursday February 17) police were called to a report of a burglary in progress at Sainsbury's on Bankfields Road.

On arrival several men were allegedly seen leaving the scene and two men (28 and 34) have been arrested in connection with the reported incident. The two men remain in custody facing questioning.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers believe the area was busy with passing motorists at the time.

Officers are appealing for any drivers who have dash cam footgae as well as anyone else with information to contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number, quoting ref 028054.
