MORE than 200 homes are without power in Teesside.

Issues are affecting about 190 homes in Stockton and 80 homes in Middlesbrough

In Stockton, the homes in the TS19 and TS21 postcodes lost power just before 4am.

Northern Powergrid says there was an unexpected problems with the cables or equipment.

Power is expected to be restored at about 4pm.

A separate incident in Middlesbrough, 80 homes are without power in the TS5 postcode.

It is expected to be restored by 3pm. 

It was also caused by an unexpected problem with cables or equipment.

An earlier issue affecting 20 properties in Hartlepool has been resolved 

Northern Powergrid is preparing for Storms Dudley and Eunice, which are set to hit the region later today.

Anyone who spots any damaged overhead power lines or other equipment is warned not approach the area and is asked to report it immediately by calling 105.

Paul Glendinning, Director of Policy and Markets, said: "We are closely tracking the weather and have ensured that our resources are in place to respond if the forecasted back-to-back storms impact our network.

“Our network control engineers have capability to restore power supplies remotely, switching electricity through alternative routes on our network wherever possible to get customers back on supply.

“In parallel our frontline workforce will be deployed to carry out local switching and repairs to restore power as safely and quickly as the conditions allow.”
