THE NORTHERN ECHO is on the hunt for fresh faces to join our brilliant team here in the North East and North Yorkshire.

We've created a number of roles to help continue our huge digital growth and provide the very best coverage of stories in our amazing part of the world.

The roles, which range from trainee jobs to senior newsroom figures, will see you working on one of Newsquest's biggest titles.

From uncovering exclusive stories on our patch to reporting on live breaking incidents, we're looking for people from a wide range of backgrounds.

You'll need to live and breathe digital, understand the needs and pressures of a modern newsroom and react to them fast, as well as want to tell stories.

Outstanding trainee reporters (with NCTJ prelims, including shorthand) will be considered alongside already qualified senior reporters.

So if this sounds like you, we want to know. Here are four vacancies at The Northern Echo that you can apply for right now.

Chief Reporter, Bishop Auckland

A senior role within the newsroom, you'll be responsible for leading our team in County Durham and ensuring our coverage of the patch continues to be unrivalled.

You will be passionate about digital storytelling, be hard-working, full of ideas and have a desire to come up with innovative ways of presenting stories across various platforms.

A big part of the job will also be immersing yourself in social media, developing relationships and understanding what matters to the community.

Digital Reporter, Teesside

We’re looking for a top-class reporter who is passionate about digital storytelling, hard-working, full of ideas and has a desire to come up with innovative ways of presenting stories across various platforms.

You'll unearth the best breaking news, features, leisure and trending stories from an incredibly lively patch.

Trainee Reporter, Darlington or Bishop Auckland (x2)

We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic trainee reporter to join our team in either Darlington or Bishop Auckland.

Creativity and ideas are key, along with an understanding of news-gathering, sourcing your own stories, and developing contacts to bring in strong exclusive content.

The job is perfect for someone capable of hitting the ground running and making a name for themselves in journalism on what is a great news patch.

'There has never been a better time to join'

Karl Holbrook, Group Editor of The Northern Echo and associated titles, said: "With all eyes on the region thanks to the levelling up debate and County Durham in the running to become the UK's capital of culture, there has never been a better time to join The Northern Echo.

"Over the past 12 months we have seen some of the biggest digital growth in the industry and our journalism has been celebrated at the highest levels.

"We're delighted to be able to continue our growth by recruiting even more journalists to our ranks."
