POLICE are appealing for help in catching two doorstep conmen who tricked their way into the homes of two elderly people today.
The men, caliming to be from the "water board", targetted properties in the Witton Gilbert and Bowburn areas of County Durham between 3pm and 3.50pm this afternoon.
In both cases, elderly residents were tricked into allowing the men to enter their homes.
The first suspect, a white male, aged about 25-years-old, is described as 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins in height, with very short hair, clean shaven and wearing a dark sweater and trousers.
The other man, a white male aged in his late 20s or early 30s, is about 5ft 10ins tall and was wearing dark clothing.
It is possible the men were using a dark coloured Mercedes car.
Anyone who saw the suspects or who witnessed the events is asked to contact Durham Police on 0845-60-60-365 and ask for Durham City CID.
