TWO men were arrested and a large quantity of drugs and cash were seized during a police raid in Newton Aycliffe.

Officers executed a Magistrates’ warrant at an address in Guthrum Place this morning (Thursday, January 27) following concerns around the address.

Two men in their 20s were arrested at the scene on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, public order offences and obstructing police.

A large quantity of drugs and cash was also seized.

Temporary Sergeant Dan Lake said: “This work was a direct link from the information received from the community allowing us to take positive action against criminality so we want to say thank you to residents who reported this address.

“We will always do everything we can to tackle crime and disorder within our communities and would encourage anyone who has concerns to contact us or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.”
