A BIKER is in hospital with internal injuries after a collision near Stockton last Thursday (January 20).

The male rider was travelling northbound on the A1046 Port Clarence when he left the carriageway, coming to a stop near a lamp post, at around 9.45pm on Thursday. 

The collison occurred near Saltholme Close in the Port Clarence area.

The 31-year-old suffered serious internal injuries, a dislocated shoulder and broken ribs.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, where he is still receiving treatment.

The motorbike was removed from the scene and has not been recovered or found by police.

Anyone who saw the bike in the area beforehand, or who captured the incident on dash cam, is asked to contact the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit via the 101 number, quoting Ref 011007.
