A WOMAN who smashed a window before forcing her way into a Darlington home has been jailed.

Laura Walker admitted robbery and criminal damage following the incident on February 3 last year.

Teesside Crown Court heard the 34-year-old had little recollection of her offending as she was in a drug induced psychosis at the time.

Joseph Hedworth, prosecuting, said the woman didn't want to make a victim impact statement as she 'wanted to move on from the incident'.

Ellen Wright. in mitigation, said her client had a long history of drug and alcohol problems.

She added: "She is at a loss to explain her actions, the court will see from her police interview that she gave a confused account and tells police she hadn't committed the robbery and just wanted someone to call the police.

"Looking back she struggles to remember her thought process that night and cannot explain what she did that night."

Walker, of Durham Road, Chester-le-Street, was jailed for 15 months.

Judge Timothy Stead said: "I believe you have already served that while on remand and you could be released very soon.

"I do hope that help is available to you as I am not going to doubt your sincerity to get yourself clean. If you start drinking and taking illicit drugs when you are released you will find yourself back in custody."
