A BOY suffered a fractured arm and may need surgery after being hit by a car while cycling.

The 13-year-old boy was cycling in Stockton at about 4.30pm last Thursday, January 13, when the incident happened.

He was alone and using the pedestrian crossing on Bishopton Road West/Rimswell Road when the collision happened.

He sustained a fractured arm and other injuries which may require surgery.

It is thought the car involved may have been a black Ford Fiesta. 

The male driver stopped initially to check the boy was ok but then left the scene without giving any contact details or further assisting the child.

The driver is described as approximately 60 years old with white hair and a white beard and he was wearing dark clothing.

He was alone in the vehicle.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "We would ask this driver to come forward - as well as anyone else with information/dash cam or CCTV footage which could help our on-going enquiries.

"Please contact Cleveland Police via the 101 number, quoting Ref CVP-22-6910."
