A DARLINGTON man has appeared in court after being caught with a quantity of cocaine.

Danny Barrett, of Kexwith Moor Close, was also sentenced for driving offences when he appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court.

The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to having a quantity of cocaine in his possession on August 23.

He was in Leicestershire at the time of the offence.

He also admitted to driving on the A6 in Leicester without insurance and to driving a car which was displaying incorrect registration plates.

Magistrates fined him £120, told him to pay costs of £85 and the £34 charge to fund victim services.

He was also given six penalty points.

An order to destroy the cocaine was granted.
