EXTINCTION Rebellion protestors arrested after a demonstration at the Amazon warehouse in Darlington are due in court today (Tuesday).

Activists attached themselves to makeshift structures at access points to the distribution depot during the action on ‘Black Friday’ on November 26.

Environmentalists staged similar demonstrations at the Gateshead site and across the UK, Europe and America, blocking access for HGVs.

Amazon bosses cancel shifts for workers at the site in Darlington amid concerns over safety.

The prosecution of nine people from around the country is to be heard before magistrates sitting in Newton Aycliffe on Tuesday.

The are all charged with aggravated trespass.

They are: Katie Ritchie-Moulin, 22, of Prospect Road, Birmingham; Scarlett Celia Rien, 30, of no fixed abode; Lydia Winter Dibben, 23, of no fixed abode; Hannah Jane Elms Crowther, 21, of Winnock Road, Yiewsley, West Drayton, Hillingdon; Riley Ings, 24, of no fixed abode; Fiona Elizabeth Vaughan Quekett, 22, of All Saints Villas Road, Cheltenham; James Skeet, 33, Drayton Street, Manchester; William James, 24, of no fixed abode; James Ozden, 25, of The Avenue, Haringey, London. Mr James is also charged with being in possession of a Stanley knife.
