MISSING teenager Jenny Nicholl took drugs "all day, every day", a court has heard.

Friend Jennifer Whelan said she became concerned about the 19-year-old's drug intake in the months before she disappeared.

Miss Whelan, 21, admitted she regularly took drugs during that period, but claimed that Jenny took more.

Speaking at the trial of David Hodgson for Jenny's murder, she said: "I know it sounds pretty hypocritical, but she (Jenny) was doing them constantly - all day, every day."

Miss Whelan confirmed she had received a text message from Jenny's phone more than a week after the teenager was last seen by her family.

The witness told Teesside Crown Court it was strange that Jenny allegedly claimed in the message she was living in Scotland with her boyfriend.

Jenny had said she wanted to become a housewife in Richmond, Miss Whelan said.

The prosecution claims the text was sent by the accused.

Another friend, Nicola Gosnold, told how Jenny had revealed she had found a list of child pornography websites drawn up by her father, Brian Nicholl.

The incident happened about a year before Jenny went missing, Miss Gosnold said.

The witness confirmed she had told police that Jenny stole mobile phones and once a camcorder.

The court heard how Jenny would drink up to 12 pints during a night out.

Mr Hodgson denies killing Jenny on June 30, 2005. The trial continues.
