A MAJOR North Yorkshire A-road has been closed after a serious crash, police have said.
The incident reportedly happened on the A64 and is now closed in both directions between the B1249 and the B1248.

North Yorkshire Police say that officers are attending the scene.
Police have advised that motorists avoid the area until further notice and a diversion is currently in place.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire police said: “Emergency services are currently dealing with serious collision on the A64 near WestHeslerton in Ryedale.

*UPDATE* North Yorkshire Police say the road has now re-opened.
The incident took place at 1.06pm today Near Heslerton and involved two cars.
Paramedics treated the two occupants including two children who were initially thought to have suffered injuries.
Police say those involved did not need hospital treatment and the drivers exchanged insurance details.
The road re-opened at 3.55pm once the vehicles were safely recovered and an extensive amount of debris from the collision was cleared from the road surface.
