AN ESCAPED murderer who has been on the run for six days was arrested today.

Lee Nevins, 24, who was serving a minimum 17-year sentence at top-security Frankland Prison in Durham, escaped from Sunderland Royal Hospital last Tuesday afternoon.

A police spokesman said he was apprehended at noon today when Northumbria Police with Scottish Police raided a house in Tillcoultry in central Scotland in an intelligence-led operation.

Nevins was one of two men convicted of killing disabled Lee Jobling at his Gateshead flat in April 2006.
