A UNIQUE record of the history of a North Yorkshire church has been recorded by a local group.
The history of St Eloy's Church, in Great Smeaton, has been compiled to create a Church Record.
The work was done by the North Yorkshire and South Durham Decorative and Fine Art Society (Nadfas).
Milly Stoney, vicechairwoman of Nadfas, said: "There are thousands of churches in the UK, yet many people have no idea of the things which they contain or of the history of the buildings.
"A few have had their history and contents recorded and this is the fifth one our group has done.
"It's a wonderful way of preserving what we know of these lovely buildings."
About 25 people were involved in the four-year project to research the church and complete the record.
The research was turned into a book by Chris Emery.
The finished Church Record was handed to the Reverend David Lewis, of St Eloy's, yesterday.
