THE following drivers were banned from the roads last week.

They appeared before magistrates in County Durham on December 16 and 17 for a range of driving offences. 

All of the defendants appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court or Peterlee Magistrates' Court.

  • Robert Henry Allison, of North Terrace, Willington, was banned from driving after being caught behind the wheel with a controlled drug in his system.

The 30-year-old had been driving his Land Rover Freelander in Bishop Auckland on January 23 this year.

He was found with a proportion of Benzoylecgonine, which is a cocaine breakdown product, in his blood which was above the legal limit.

He pleaded guilty when he appeared at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

He was banned from driving for 16 months and fined £140, told to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £34.

He also admitted driving without insurance and otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

  • Raymond David Patton, of Lambton Street, Shildon, was given a suspended sentence after driving while disqualified.

He was caught driving on the A1 at Scotch Corner on October 30.

He admitted the charge at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

The 32-year-old was given a 12-week sentence, suspended for six months and will have to comply with a curfew.

He was also told to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £128.

He was disqualified from driving for 18 months.

  • Andrew Hames McAllister, of Rothbury Road, Sunderland, was fined £583 after being caught drink driving.

It relates to an offence involving a silver BMW 3 series in Durham on December 3

The 33-year-old was caught on the A690 at Stonebridge with 101 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath,

He pleaded guilty on Thursday and was fined £583, told to pay £85 in costs and a victim surcharge of £58.

He was banned from driving for 24 months.

  • Christopher James Bailey, from Darlington, was disqualified from driving.

He was spotted driving his Ford Fiesta while using a mobile phone in Woodland Road on March 23 this year.

Bailey, 32, of Jedburgh Drive, was fined £220 and disqualified from driving for six months.

He was also told to pay costs of £90 and a victim surcharge of £34.

The case was proved in his absence on December 16.
