A FOREST has said they will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday) after fears Storm Barra could cause risk to life.

Hamsterley Forest said they will be closed tomorrow in a Facebook update posted tonight (Monday).

The post said: "Due to Storm Arwen weakening the trees in the forest, the forecasted high winds and snow are likely to cause damage to the trees in the forest, resulting risk to life of anyone in the forest. Due to this, we ask everyone to stay away from the forest on this day.

"Stay tuned for more updates and please share to any you know who were planning on visiting."

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind and snow set to hit the North East and North Yorkshire tomorrow as Storm Barra closes in to the UK.

As much of the North East recovers from Storm Arwen, the country is set to be rocked by another storm, this time Storm Barra.

The weather forecaster have issued a yellow warning for wind between 9am and midnight tomorrow, expecting “strong winds” with potential travel disruption.
