A MAN was jailed for stealing beef and other food from Heron Foods in Hartlepool.

He was also jailed for assault.

Here are all the people who appeared in Teesside Magistrates' Court in the first half of November.

  • On November 2, Graham Alan Barratt, 39, of Charterhouse Street, Hartlepool appeared in court for breaching a community order by failing to attend appointments and breached a curfew requirement. Community order revoked.

Original offence: stole food to the value of £140 from Heron Foods in Hartlepool. Stole beef to the value of £12 belonging to Heron Foods in Hartlepool. Assaulted another in Hartlepool. Failed to surrender to custody in Middlesbrough having been released on bail.

Barratt was jailed for two weeks concurrent, overall sentence 14 weeks. 

  • On November 4, Aaron Thirwall, 29, of Carlow Close, Guisborough appeared in court for driving without insurance in Whitworth Road, Middlesbrough. 

Fined £200, victim surcharge £34, costs £110, licence endorsed.

  • On November 4, Katharine Smith, 29, of Marton Road, Middlesbrough appeared in court for assaulting another by beating him in Middlesbrough.

Community order made for a year, rehabilitation activity requirement for a maximum of 20 days, victim surcharge £95, costs £85.

  • On November 4, Lee Hughes, 24, of Brompton Walk, Hartlepool appeared in court for failing to provide a breath test while driving in Stockton.

Community order made for a year and a half, rehabilitation activity requirement for a maximum of 15 days, unpaid work requirement of 170 hours within the next 12 months, victim surcharge £95, costs £310, banned from driving for 30 months, licence endorsed.

  • On November 8, Rhys Mark Watson, 26, of Fir Grove, Thornaby appeared in court for breaching a community order by failing to attend unpaid work sessions.

Fined £80.

  • On November 9, Nathan Wiles, 24, of Hartington Road, Stockton appeared in court for having a machete in a public place in Stockton without good reason.

Jailed for four months, suspended for 12 months, victim surcharge £128, costs £100, machete to be forfeited and destroyed.

  • On November 9, Ralph Brown, 39, of Limber Green, Middlesbrough appeared in court for assaulting another by beating her in Stockton.

Community order made for a year, programme requirement for 19 days, rehabilitation activity requirement for a maximum of 20 days, victim surcharge £95, costs £85.

  • On November 10, Jasmine Lee Smith, 20, of Raydale, Hemlington appeared in court for causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, namely a pug puppy by failing to follow veterinary advice and provide care to the dog's leg.

Community order made for a year and a half, rehabilitation activity requirement for a maximum of 10 days, unpaid work requirement of 150 hours within the next 12 months, victim surcharge £95, costs £600.

  • On November 11, Asif Hussain, 38, of Waterloo Road, Middlesbrough appeared in court for speeding – 57mph in a 50mph zone in Salford.

Fined £40, victim surcharge £34, banned from driving for six months, licence endorsed.

  • On November 17, Kevin Stephen Smith, 45, of Howgill Walk, Middlesbrough appeared in court for failing to provide a specimen of blood for analysis while being a vehicle driver at Harrogate.

Community order made for a year, unpaid work requirement of 150 hours within the next 12 months, victim surcharge £95, costs £85, banned from driving for three years, licence endorsed.

  • On November 17, Joanne Swift, 43, of Belk Street, Hartlepool appeared in court for stealing cosmetics to the value of £80 belonging to Wilkinson’s Stores in Hartlepool.

Community order made for a year, curfew requirement with electronic monitoring for 12 weeks to stay at a named address between 7pm and 7am every day, rehabilitation activity requirement for a maximum of 25 days, compensation £80.

  • On November 17, Heather Anne Gill, 43, of Seaham Close, Norton, appeared in court for harassing another by pestering him for money in Stockton.

Community order made for a year, drug rehabilitation requirement for six months, rehabilitation activity requirement for a maximum of 30 days, victim surcharge £95, costs £85.

  • On November 18, Zoe Walker, 27, of no fixed abode, appeared in court for assaulting a police constable acting in the exercise of his duty by beating him in Whitby.

Jailed for four weeks consecutive, compensation £50.

  • On November 18, Martin Peter Chambers, 40, of Hartford Street, Middlesbrough appeared in court for breaching a community order by refusing to engage during an appointment and failing to make contact for a telephone appointment.

New requirements of community order: rehabilitation activity requirement for a maximum of three days. Original requirements to continue: curfew requirement and rehabilitation activity requirement.

  • On November 18, Akash Sajjad, 24, of Clive Road, Eston appeared in court for speeding on the A19 in Stockton when the speed limit was 50mph.

Victim surcharge £34, costs £85, fined £293, licence endorsed.

  • On November 18, Nathan John Harkin, 28, of HMP Preston, appeared in court for having a machete in a public place without reasonable excuse in Middlesbrough.

Jailed for 12 weeks, victim surcharge £128, machete to be forfeited and destroyed.
