A DARLINGTON drag queen is helping to hand out bicycles for children this Christmas.

Peter Miller, who is also known as Miss Annbag, is helping to coordinate the project at Pathfinder House, in Northgate, Darlington.

The bicycles have all been donated by members of the public and are being given away to struggling families.

Mr Miller, who gave out about 30 bikes in the lead up to Christmas last year, said: "I just want to give a bit of extra help to families who don't have as much.

"It's nice to give something back over the festive period.

"It's for anyone who is struggling. We don't ask a lot of questions. We know the pandemic has hit a lot of people.

"I did it last year and it went down well so we are hoping to do the same."

He added: "We're still taking donations so if anyone wants to give something they can drop it off. It doesn't matter if the chain is broken or the tyres are flat - we can fix them up."

So far, more than a dozen bicycles have been donated and more are expected in the coming days.

He is working with NQA Foodbank, which is based in the building, and new community radio station Darlo Live on the project.

He will be at Pathfinder house between 12pm and 3pm on November 27, December 11 and December 18 to hand out the bikes.
