THE rider of an off-road motorbike was seriously hurt after he was involved with a crash with another vehicle, whilst not wearing a helmet.

Emergency services were called to Newton Aycliffe on the evening of Sunday, November 7, after an illegal, unlit off-road motorcycle collided with a fully registered motor vehicle.

A spokesperson for Durham police said: "The male rider suffered serious injuries due to the collision, mainly due to him not wearing a safety helmet.

"We are waiting to interview this male once he has recovered and he will be reported for a number of offences.

"The riders of these motorcycles pose a serious risk to members of the public and other road users and will be dealt with in a robust manner.

"Please pass any information on the riders of these illegal motorcycles to the Newton Aycliffe Neighbourhood Policing team via Facebook Messenger."
