A PEACEFUL protest is being held tomorrow to call for an independent investigation of a council's children's services.

The protest is being held by the Save the Woman group in Middlesbrough, who help families and mothers who have moved to the UK to integrate.

The 'campaign for justice' will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at 11am at the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (MIMA) in Centre Square.

Olalekan Odedeyi who runs the group, said: "Save the Woman has consistently worked to build bridges between local people and the Middlesbrough local authority services provided to improve the experience of families, and especially black families, in the UK care system.

"However, we are very concerned about the level of treatment given to the African Community. We have on many occasions raised a series of abuse of power by social services and we want our community to be treated with respect.

"On Sunday 7th November, African and African - Caribbean Families met on Zoom to discuss the ongoing crisis of Afriphobia driven decisions which are ripping families apart. Families described the harrowing situation with a newly arrived family having had three children taken away throwing the mother studying for her PhD in turmoil."
