POLICE investigating a two-vehicle crash on Wigginton Road opposite York District Hospital are appealing for a key witness to come forward.

It happened just before 3pm on Wednesday (3 November 2021) and involved a white Ford Fiesta and a red Toyota Aygo.

The man driving the Aygo was taken to hospital for a check-up.

The driver of the Fiesta made off on foot towards Belgrave Street without exchanging their details.

A potential witness to the incident was stood at the bus stop but did not catch a bus and instead walked towards the city.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for this member of the public to come forward to assist officers with the investigation.

"Enquiries are ongoing to identify the driver of the Fiesta.

"He is described as white, tall and wearing grey jogging bottoms and a dark hooded top.

"Anyone with information that could assist the investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Donna Abram. You can also email Donna.Abram@northyorkshire.police.uk."
