A MAN has appeared in court accused of the attempted murder of another man, who was stabbed in County Durham at the weekend.

Thomas Brazell, of Jubilee Road, Shildon, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court yesterday morning charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

The 27-year old was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a serious assault in Shildon on Sunday night.

The incident took place shortly after 9.20pm on Jubilee Road.

A man in his 30s was taken to James Cook University Hospital suffering a stab wound, but is now in a stable condition.

Mr Brazell was subsequently charged and made his first court appearance yesterday (Wednesday, November 3).

He has been remanded into custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on December 1.
