NORTH Yorkshire police say enquiries are continuing and a man is still in critical condition after suffering head injuries in serious assault.

Police say they have had a “very positive” response after their appeal and have thanked members of the public who have come forward with information so far.

The incident happened at around 5.35pm on Monday November 1 on York Road, near Thirsk Industrial Estate and saw a man receive serious head injuries before he was airlifted to James Cook Hospital.

Officers came across the man, who is local and aged in his 30s, laid on the pavement.

The police are steal keen to hear from anyone who has not already spoken to them and was in the area at the time, including motorists with dash-cam footage or residents who have door-bell or CCTV camera footage along York Road.

Police say they are also appealing for information from anyone who was in the area at the time, including moments before the incident.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire police said: “If you saw, or have any dash-cam footage of either the victim, who was wearing light coloured trousers and a black jacket or another man, described as muscular and wearing a grey hooded top and tracksuit trousers who was walking towards the industrial estate, or if you witnessed the assault itself please get in touch.
