STAFF from Asda in Whinfield, Darlington, are celebrating after having raised over £300 for breast cancer charities as part of their annual Tickled Pink fundraiser.

It was the idea of 8-year-old Brooke Tinkler, a daughter of a staff member, who decided a sponsored dog walk from Saltburn to Redcar and back with her family would help raise some money.

Brooke and her family smashed the original target of £100 and raised £314.

Joanne Lowe, Community Colleague for Asda, said: “Brooke came up with the idea and she’s done amazingly.

“When she first came up with the idea we all thought it was great and we already smashed the target before the walk.

The walk was completed in 5 hours with members of the public stopping the group and donating along the way.

Tickled Pink celebrates 25 years of supporting breast cancer charities by raising over £71 million in that time.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and every year since 1996 Asda has raised money to support charities, Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel!

The charities support those affected by the illness and aim to end the late detection and misdiagnosis of breast cancer.
