A DINOSAUR park is has been digitally upgraded to all people to get up close and personal and enhance the visitor experience.

Middlesbrough's home of the dinosaurs now has three new interactive discovery trails that allow visitors to get up close and personal with the park's six sculptures.

The three digital trails can be accessed for free by scanning QR codes that are displayed on newly installed information boards next to the dinosaurs.

The main trail uses specialist augmented reality software to bring the dinosaurs to life on screen for an immersive experience, along with a quiz so dino-fans can test their knowledge as they wander around the park.

The trail is suitable for ages 12 and under and can be completed over a 1km route of the park.

Once it has been completed, there's the option to complete a further two Q&A-based trails that also include information on Middlesbrough's industrial heritage and the former ironworks that stood close to where the park is situated on the banks of the River Tees.

Local firm Peter Hinton Design is the mastermind behind the trails which can be accessed through the My Huntee app and website, which also hosts the popular Middlesbrough Heritage Trail.

The dinosaur trails were up and running in time for the park's inaugural Dino Day event on Saturday, October 23 which saw families gather for dinosaur-themed activities.

Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston said: "The event was simply fantastic - this is what Teessaurus Park is all about.

"We know it's a great visitor attraction and the turn-out shows just how much it's loved by all ages.

"More investment is happening in the park and there's going to be lots more to do here including kids' play equipment.

"It's a great place for families to come and enjoy for free, and I'm delighted that the trails incorporate information on the historical importance of this area and Middlesbrough's legacy to the world."
